The Philippine Hospital Association Regional Conference in Region III was held last Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Midori Clark Hotel and Casino, Clark Pampanga. The theme of the event was “The Challenge of Change: Building Bridges Together”. The masters of ceremonies were PHA Treasurer, Edmundo B. Lopez, MD, MHA and PHA Director, Bu C. Castro, MD, LI. B.
Bizbox representative, Ralph Fajardo, gave an overview of the company’s Electronic Health Records in relation to the topic “ABC’s of Preparing Electronic Medical Records”.
Composed of two sessions, the event started with the opening ceremonies. Conrado M. Braña Jr., MD, MHA gave the opening remarks and led the recognition of PHA National Officers, Regional Councils and Provincial Chapter Officers, guest speakers, and participants. The PHA Vice President for Luzon, Ma. Lourdes K. Otayza, MD, MHA, gave the welcome remarks. It was then followed by the President’s Time speech by PHA President Huberto F. Lapuz, MD, MHA. Then, Leonita P. Gorgolon, MD, MHA and Mr. Walter R. Bacareza shared inspirational talks to the audience.
The first session started with a talk by Ma. Paz Virginia Otayza, MD regarding What Hospitals Need To Know About The Z Benefit Package For Premature And Small Newborns. It was followed by a talk about Climate Change which was led by a representative from the Climate Change Commission, Yolanda Milan, MD.
The second session started with the Council and Chapter Time which was led by Atty. Leo O. Olarte. The talk on Disaster Preparedness Thru MAA: How To Establish Connectivity was given by Jaime A. Almora, MD. Then, Mr. Ralph Fajardo of Bizbox Inc., led the talk on ABC’s On Preparing Electronic Medical Records.
Upon the conclusion of the second session, the Philippine Health Insurance Company (PHILHEALTH) provided enlightenment on the Updates On The Claims For Reimbursements And Compliance And Accreditation: Issues And Resolutions. The talk was given by PhilHealth Vice President of Quality Assurance Group, Francisco Z. Soria, MD and PHIC OIC-Division Chief of Accreditation Compliance and Review Division, Leona Ellen D. Bayta, MD.
The Department of Health (DOH) then discussed the Updates On Hospitals’ Licensing Requirements. This was led by DOH’s Atty. Nicolas B. Lutero III, Mary Jane P. Paez, MD, Juliana M. Reyes, MD.
The last part of the program consisted of the Open Forum and the Closing Remarks that was given by the Council President.
